Somewhere in Africa….a 26 year old rebel guerilla colonel is held captive in a prison cell. It is the first safe haven he has known since being captured from his village by force at the age of 8. During his 18 years as a soldier he has become a perfect killing machine. A court appointed female attorney perseveres through the captive’s silence to unearth the man trapped behind a lifetime of violence. Partners and adversaries, the attorney and the soldier are two faces in the mirror of the same war torn generation. He, child soldier with a life time of memories culled from guerrilla warfare. She, educated, with a life time of memories culled from the comforts of an ambitious and modern society of wealth. But these grown up child soldiers, are they only criminals? Are the honorable in society accountable in any way for the war that rages only a few miles away? Eye of the Cyclone will continue their American Premiere Tour to the Rubicon International Theater Festival in Ventura, CA later in July.
Albuquerqueans will also have a very special opportunity to participate in a ONE DAY ONLY WORKSHOP with Ivory Coast, Friday, July 11, at 6pm at the Tricklock Space (1705 Mesa Vista). The workshop will explore the acting and work creation techniques employed by the company and is a unique opportunity to train with international artists. Space is extremely limited, so reservations for the workshop MUST be made by calling 505-254-8393. Admission for the workshop is $25 per person. (Approximate run time on workshop: 2 hours) |
