Inclement Weather
A man waits with his trunk for a train that never stops. He doesn’t speak your language. The weather gets bad. Built new each night from words collected from the audience, creator and performer Nicolas Di Gaetano re-imagines the art of clowning in this comic and charming exploration of waiting, communication, “here” versus “there” and the beauty in between. Inspired by classic clowns like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, the bleakly comic ambiance of Samuel Beckett and the visual palette of 20th-century immigration, Inclement Weather is a magical show for the whole family at is “at once funny, poignant and life-affirming.” (Ottawa Citizen)
Created and performed by Nicolas Di Gaetano
Mi Casa Theatre builds theatre from the ground up, creating original works for national and international touring that continue to change and develop through rehearsal and production, and working in a fluid manner in which the company actively seeks out the creative feedback from other artists and audience. Having trained with Calgary’s One Yellow Rabbit, Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris, London’s Theatre de Complicité and New York’s SITI Company, founders Nicolas Di Gaetano and Emily Pearlman create new work out of disparate vocabularies by blending their experience in physically devised work with contemporary approaches to interdisciplinary collaboration. The resulting aesthetic fuses reclaimed traditional forms with post-modern ways of seeing. |
