Imagine three of the most exciting solo performers in the country coming together to share an evening of music, songs, comedy and more to celebrate their shared love and frustration… for teaching. From the hysterical tale of teaching your first college class and hearing a student’s play where he’s imagining having sex with you, to a teacher conference in inner city Chicago where a student’s missing pen is an absurdly laid battleground, to the touching tale of a class in rural Kansas for kids suffering from problems most adults can’t imagine, The Teacher Show takes us back to where we truly all began to grow… the classroom. Written and performed by Megan Gogerty, Sean Christopher Lewis, and Idris Goodwin, THE TEACHER SHOW fuses music, monologue, comedy and hip hop poetry to celebrate the challenges and triumphs of the classroom. Featuring Megan Gogerty (Hilary Clinton Got Me Pregnant), Sean Christopher Lewis (NPR’S This American Life) and Idris Goodwin (HBO’S Def Poetry Jam). Working Group Theatre: Working Group Theatre creates original plays and events in collaboration with actors, directors, playwrights, and community partners. We tell stories that matter to us, to the communities where we live and work, and to the world we are moving through. We love to change the space where our work is performed in unexpected ways, either seeking out non-theatrical spaces and staging plays there, or redefining the space of an existing theatre.
